The Connectivity Database tables can be found from the
HAWCmon website under, starting from the Dashboard, the "Connections" label. This database contains all of the documented instrument connections for the HAWC experiment. As the experiment persists, connections may change or new ones may arise, thus this database is to keep track of and manage said connections. Once on the
HAWC Connections page, you may add either a
New Connection, and
New Signal Source, or a
New Physical Address.
Add A New Connection
To add a connection from one piece of equipment to another (or to a physical location), select the "Add a New Connection" button. From here, you can select the
type of connection it is (i.e. from which type of equipment to which other type, such as PMT --> FEB, etc.), the
signal source (where the connection starts), the
logical address (if applicable),
physical address (where the connection ends), the
start time (time that the connection began or was entered),
end time (time that the connection was removed, if applicable), as well as
entry person (the individual entering this connection). You may also add any comments regarding the connection in the
notes box provided. You may save the connection at any time while you are working on it by selecting the
save and continue editing button in the bottom right. Once you have finished entering the connection, if you have an additional connection to add, you may select
save and add another, or if you have no other connections to add, you may select
save.
If you wish only to edit an existing connection, after you have selected "Add a New Connection", near the top left (underneath HAWC Monitoring System Administration) select "Connections". This will take you to the list of existing connections. To edit one, click on the "Connectivity id" of the desired connection.
Alternatively, if you wish to add or edit a new connection, you may instead select the "Admin Page" button (in the bottom right on the
HAWCmon Dashboard page), then select "
Connections" (if you just want to add a connection, select the "Add" button just to the right of "Connections"). This will take you to the list of existing connections from which you can either add a new connection, by selecting "Add connectivity" in the top right, or edit an existing one by selecting the "connectivity id" of the connection you wish to edit.
Add a New Signal Source
To add another signal source (i.e. add an option to the list of available to choices from the
signal source drop-down menu when adding a connection; essentially, add a new starting point for connections), select the "Add a New Signal Source" button. From here, you may add the
type and, where applicable, the
Pmt location id, the
physical address, and the
tank id of the signal source you are adding.
Alternatively, you may select the "Admin Page" button (in the bottom right on the
HAWCmon Dashboard page), then select "
Signal Sources" (or the "Add" button just to the right of this) for a list of current signal sources where you can "Add signal_source" (button in the top right) or select the signal source you wish to edit.
Add a New Physical Address
To add another physical address (i.e. add an option to the list of available to choices from the
physical adress drop-down menu when adding a connection; essentially, add a new ending point for connections), select the "Add a New Physical Address" button. From here, you may add the
type and, where applicable, the
rack number, the
physical crate number, the
slot number, and the
channel number of the physical address you are adding.
Alternatively, you may select the "Admin Page" button (in the bottom right on the
HAWCmon Dashboard page), then select "
Physical Addresses" (or the "Add" button just to the right of this) for a list of current physical addresses where you can "Add physical_address" (button in the top right) or select the physical address you wish to edit.
By going to the "Admin Page" from the
HAWCmon Dashboard (button in the bottom right), one can add many pieces of information to the Connectivity Database. In the box labeled "Connectivity", there are several options of items to view, add, or change in the connectivity database. The options "
Connections", "
Physical Addresses", and "
Signal Sources" can be accessed from the
HAWC Connections page (found by selecting the "Connectivity" button off of the
HAWCmon Dashboard page), however none of the other options can be accessed directly from the
HAWC Connections page
