Determination of the Training Variables

The number of free parameters in a single-top event are determined by the E-p 4-vectors of the final state. 4 parameters are contributed by the lepton, 4 by the neutron, and 4 more by each jet in the event. Imperfect detector resolution prevents simply using these free parameters to describe the final state phase space and instead a complementary set of variables, which can be mapped to the original free parameters, is constructed.

The HistogrammingTV_Float class contains our set of variables but it is impractical to use the entire set because of redundancies due to several variables describing overlapping regions of phase space, long computational times, and the inability to obtain physics insight since it is not known which variables are actually responsible for the discrimination.
