CERNLIB is a pain to install in any case. If you don't know what it is leave this page and forget it exists -- you probably don't need it anyway.

If you got past the warning, that is if you really need CERNLIB then following are a couple of useful information (that might get deprecated soon) for archlinux users. Other distributions may (or not) have packages for CERNLIB.

The package for arch for CERNLIB was in AUR, but got taken out because the maintainer left (and well it's a damn old and unmaintained package upstream). I managed to somewhat piece it back together based on the google cache and have tested if for x86_64 architecture (ie my computer) -- hopefully soon Matt will be able to provide a better status of working or not working.

To install follow standard procedure to install AUR packages:

$ mkdir -p AUR/cernlib

$ cd AUR/cernlib

put the PKGBUILD file into the current folder

$ touch cernlib.install

$ makepkg

$ sudo pacman -U cernlib-2006_32-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz

Following these steps cernlib should be installed (though if that doesn't work feel free to tweak the PKGBUILD file...

To test it worked try:

$ paw

Workstation type (?=HELP) <CR>=1 :
Version 1.29/04 of HIGZ started

PAW > v/cr v(5) r 1 2 3 4 5
PAW > v/dr v

which should show a step "histogram".
